Breckland District Council has approved grant funding bids which will go towards improving play facilities and open spaces across the district.

A total of £31,436 was awarded to a number of parish and town councils and a further £40,779 was approved for 13 organisations.

The total sum of £72,215 was contributed by housing developers as part of a planning agreement, known as section 106, aiming to improve the open spaces where residential development takes place.

Councillor Gordon Bambridge said: 'Developers are required to help fund improved open space and play provision to meet the needs of local communities when additional housing is added.

'Improving learning opportunities, community health and wellbeing, and supporting people to live active lives are all priorities for Breckland Council, therefore I am delighted to see large sums released to do just this.'
