Pupils at Mattishall Primary school have planted the seeds for a green-fingered future, after taking part in a bulb planting session.

The children enjoyed planting more than 300 daffodil bulbs on Tuesday, November 7, in the school’s outdoor area.

Some of the bulbs were kindly donated by the Dereham Lions, while others were purchased with Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) vouchers donated to the school, in recognition of their previous work.

Every child at the school planted at least one bulb to help enhance the display in their developing garden area.

The activity was organised by Robert French, a long-standing volunteer gardener at Mattishall Primary.

Mr French has volunteered at the school for several years.

He previously organised the planting of an apple orchard, willow farm and various fruits and vegetables.

Students, staff and parents alike are all looking forward to seeing the display of daffodils in the spring.
