A football education scheme has benefitted from a cash boost from Dereham's newest high street building society.

The Dereham Education and Soccer Academy (DESA) has received £150 from The Nottingham, which will go towards the cost of sending academy graduates to America to gain experience and build contacts.

Tom Parke from DESA said: 'We are extremely grateful that The Nottingham has kindly donated money towards our 2019 tour to the USA which will provide our learners with an unforgettable experience.'

Dereham branch customer services assistant, Michelle Watson, said The Nottingham is 'very proud' to support the academy.

'Their aim is to help people achieve their football dream but they are responsible enough to accept that not everyone can make it in the game, so young people on their programme are educated as well, to ensure they have a plan B in terms of employment prospects,' she said.
