A mid-Norfolk cancer support group took part in a 'Celebrating Volunteers' exhibition at Norwich Cathedral.
Members of Caring Friends and other groups had the chance to network at the event, which also included an entourage for Norwich's new mayor, Martin Schmierer.
Margaret Barrett, from the group, said: 'We enjoyed all the pageantry of the mayor's entourage at the beginning of the new mayoral year and the procession through the nave of the bishop and the clergy.
'Afterwards Caring Friends chairman Jean Wright and myself spoke to many of the other exhibitors, making new contacts among the 4,000 or so charities that make up the volunteer sector in Norfolk alone.
'Without all our charities and the co-operation between them a lot of very vulnerable people would not get the help they need.'
