A charity sale held by an 84-year-old from Reepham has raised £1,000 for the Ghurka Welfare Trust.

It was the last sale Ken Harman, who lives in the town, was holding for the trust after 15 years of fundraising as part of the Mid-Norfolk Support Group of the trust.

It was held at the Old Brewery House Hotel in Reepham on October 24 and 25.

The total was £965 but when supporters were informed one of them offered to top up the result to £1,000.

Mr Harman said he was grateful to everyone who came, including people who visited from as far away as Lowestoft, Fakenham, North Walsham, Dereham and other parts of Norfolk to buy items and donate to the cause.

Mr Harman said he would continue to raise cash for the trust by holdings collections at supermarkets.
