A factory has confirmed that fire-fighters were called out to deal with a chemical incident.

A spokesman for Kinnerton chocolate factory in Fakenham said crews arrived on site in Oxborough Lane at 9.15pm on Thursday, February 28, but added that its 24-hour production line had not been affected.

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said two appliances from Fakenham together with one from Carrow and the environmental protection unit from King’s Lynn attended. Firefighters used thermal image cameras and breathing apparatus to deal with the chemical in a drum, which was made safe, and crews left by 10.35pm.

The fire service tweeted an appeal for people to keep doors and windows closed in the area, but a spokesman said today that was no longer necessary.
