Emergency services were called to Dereham on Thursday afternoon after a child was struck by a car.
The collision occurred at around 3pm on Swaffham Road, at the junction with Sandy Lane.
Paramedics from Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) cared for the child until ambulances arrived to take him to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Norfolk Police said the child sustained minor injuries in the accident, including cuts to the face, and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Dereham resident, Dionne Smith, said she was walking up Sandy Lane and heard a loud thump. When she turned to see what had happened she saw a small boy on the ground at least five meters from where the car had stopped.
'He was screaming as his mother and everyone around rushed to his aid,' she added. 'There was also a nurse there who stayed with the mother and the child. It was horrific. I hope he's okay.'
