The National Construction College has chosen Morgan Ashurst as the main contractor for its planned £26 flagship redevelopment at Bircham Newton.

If the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk approves plans for the site, work may start in autumn 2009.

The 18-month project, designed by Norfolk architects Feilden and Mawson, is supported by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) which has agreed to fund 80pc of the costs. The balance of funding will come the college itself and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).

“Morgan Ashurst is proud to have been selected to deliver this flagship project,” said Morgan Ashurst managing director in the East region, John Homer. “The company is committed to tackling the skills shortage, so we are delighted to be able to help provide a world-class training facility for talented craftsmen and managers of the future.”
