A business in Dereham is sponsoring a charity initiative which hopes to encourage Norfolk residents to explore the countryside.

Break is expanding its GoGoHares sculpture trail from the streets of Norwich to the Norfolk countryside and car rental business, Zest, has donated £10,000 to bring a hare to Dereham, as part of the Moongazer trail.

Decorated fibre glass sculptures modelled on moongazer-style hares will be placed at key locations around the county and Zest believes it presents an opportunity to attract visitors to the town.

Managing director, Rory Sexton, said: “Bringing the trail to Dereham was really appealing and will help build awareness of Break locally. As part of the wider trail of hares, it will increase visitors to Dereham in the summer.

“There is a huge opportunity for Dereham to benefit from this, and we are looking at ways to get local retailers and traders involved in the project.”

The design and name of the hare will be unveiled at Zest’s launch event in February.
