She is a grandmother of four who has always got her knitting needles at the ready.

And now sixty-four-year-old Gwennyth Anderson, from Dereham, needs you to vote for her to become one of the knitting nanas on the adverts for the cereal Shreddies.

Mrs Anderson has been nominated by her daughter Lynne Paterson, 35, for the competition, and in order to win the knitting nana competition Mrs Anderson needs to get the most votes on the contest's Facebook page.

So far more than 400 grandmothers have been nominated for the competition. Mrs Anderson has already got more than 600 votes putting her near the top of the rankings.

Mrs Paterson said: 'My mum is absolutely mad about knitting. She constantly knits for the children. She has to have a pair of knitting needles with her all the time. We have an on-going joke that she knits all of the Shreddies.'

Mrs Anderson, who also has a son, two grandsons and two granddaughters, said: 'I love knitting. I have knitted since I was about seven-years-old. At the moment I mostly knit jumpers, cardigans and waistcoats for the grandchildren.'

The competition runs until the end of July. To vote for Mrs Anderson go to www.facebook.com/knittingnanas?ref=ts
