Townsfolk and firefighters joined forces to tackle a blaze at a beloved moor.

People living nearby managed to get the grass fire at Neatherd Moor, in Dereham, under control on Monday (August 15) afternoon.

Crews from King's Lynn and Swaffham then arrived to finish the job.

The site of the fire was close to where a duck pond dried up after prolonged spells of extreme heat and a lack of rainfall.

Crews were called to the blaze at 2.15pm and, by 2.47pm, it had been extinguished.

Firefighters ensured the scene was safe before departing.
