A group that aims to promote all that is good about Dereham to visitors is holding its annual meeting next Thursday .

Dereham Tourist Association, which operates an information service for visitors and promotes accommodation providers in the town, is urging everyone with an interest in Dereham to attend the meeting at Church House, Church Street, in Dereham on January 28 at 7.30pm.

Guest speaker will be David Ovenden , chairman of Dereham Area Partnership, who is to take a look at Dereham Today. Dereham mayor Ann Bowyer will also be taking part.

Association chairman Peter Streek said although Dereham is not an obvious centre for tourism, it is an important base or gateway from which to visit a wide range of attractions in Norfolk.

The association's volunteers act as 'meet and greet' people who aim to be as helpful and informative as they can to people calling the association for details about guest houses, B&B|s, eating places, and places of interest to visit.
