Police and trading standards officers are appealing for residents not to accept unsolicited offers of work from traders calling at their homes following a suspicious incident in Shipdham yesterday.
Six men called at homes in the Pound Green Lane area at around 3pm offering to Tarmac drives. The owner of one of the properties had to decline the offer several times before the man left.
Norfolk County Council's trading standards officers said residents should never agree to have work done by, or buy goods from, someone who calls unannounced at their door, or approaches them on the street.
A spokesman said: 'Often such traders don't provide full names, trading addresses or contact telephone numbers, resulting in it being virtually impossible to trace them if there are any problems with the work or goods - which is all too often the case.'
