Workers have completed the next phase of building a new roundabout on the A47 at Honingham despite the weekend's snow.

Motorists had been warned to avoid the trunk road around the Honingham area throughout the weekend as road builders undertook a major part of the new safety measures, and only one lane was open to traffic during this time.

Despite the snowy conditions workers were able to finish the task of raising the A47 by five feet so it is level with the new roundabout created at the road's junction with the Mattishall Road.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “Despite the weather work was completed on time, and the temporary traffic lights were lifted at 6am on Monday.”

Work to improve the junction at the Mattishall Road turn off began in September and is well ahead of schedule.
