More than 40 business, groups and organisations will come together this weekend for a new event which celebrates Fakenham and its many success stories.

The first Fakenham Fayre is being held in Fakenham Market Place on Saturday, from 10am until 4pm.

It will feature live music and entertainment, a food market and some of the town’s key businesses and education providers promoting their work.

Organiser Liam O’Sullivan, who owns Gallery Bistro, said: “It’s truly amazing how much support there is for this event.

“I’ve had so much positive feedback about it when I’ve been out and about promoting it.

“There is such a diverse range of businesses and groups taking part.

“To have 40 businesses and organisations signed up has surpassed my expectations.

“Everyone is keen to get involved because it is promoting positivity and highlighting what a great town Fakenham is and how much it has going for it.

“I think people are a bit fed up about all the negativity and moaning that we see so much of in the world today.”

Some of Fakenham’s biggest businesses have agreed to attend, including Bill Cleyndert & Company Ltd, Jack Richards & Son, PMC Harvesters Ltd, Kinnerton Confectionary, AOT Engineering and P4.

Representatives from Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets will be there and Fakenham Racecourse has shown an interest.

Mr O’Sullivan said: “I think many people who live in Fakenham don’t realise that some of the businesses operating here are world leaders in their field.

“The town has so much going for it when you scratch beneath the surface.

“This will show young people they can stay in the town and build exciting careers here.”

Fakenham Market Place will be closed off to traffic throughout.

It is hoped the Fakenham Fayre will go on to become an annual event.
