The town has been awaiting a new centre since the household waste site at nearby Beetley and East Bilney closed in October 2004.

People have faced round trips of up to 30 miles instead to the household waste sites at Ashill or Hempton.

New plans for a site in Dereham were scheduled to be revealed earlier this year, but then the project was delayed.

By the end of this year it is hoped that a planning application will have been submitted and a full public consultation held.
