More than 60 pupils from Neatherd High School have spent a fun-filled week practising their French in real life situations at Ch�teau du Broutel on the edge of the small historical town of Rue on the Picardy/Normandy border.
More than 60 pupils from Neatherd High School have spent a fun-filled week practising their French in real life situations at Ch�teau du Broutel on the edge of the small historical town of Rue on the Picardy/Normandy border.
Le Ch�teau du Broutel dates back to 1714 and is situated in more than 40 acres of beautiful grounds.
Pupils interviewed French locals about their shopping habits, visited a farm to learn how goats' cheese was made and visited a boulangerie where they made croissants. They also watched a French chef make mayonnaise and in groups made their own.
They spent time in the seaside town of Le Touquet where they explored the shops and bought gifts for friends and family. They also spent a day at Eurodisney.
In the evenings, after a meal together, they took part in various activities including a ch�teau olympics which involved fun team games.
Assistant headteacher Sara French said: 'Pupils always enjoy spending time in France and we were impressed with how keen they were to interview people and use the language.'
