A group of dedicated supporters have raised more than £25,000 for a Kings Lynn based brain tumour support charity, despite their marquee blowing away ahead of the charity night.
The group of friends from Mattishall chose to support the charity, the Lisa Wiles Red Wellies Brain Tumour support fund, after their close friend was diagnosed with the disease.
John Buckman, who is battling a brain tumour, promised to match whatever money Debbie Lilwall, Alison Shingfield, Catherine Bowes, Helen Mendham, Debbie Bennington, Jo Findlay and Rachel Goddard raised on the night.
And they didn't disappoint; raising an impressive £12,650 for the charity with an evening event held at South Park Green, Mattishall, which Mr Buckman kept his word, and doubled.
The event, on September 16, included raffles, an auction, and a silent auction, as well as an indoor beach and a silent disco.
But the fundraising evening wasn't without its pitfalls, as at 5.30am, three days before the event, Storm Aileen hit Norfolk, and dramatic CCTV footage shows the 60ft by 40ft marquee being torn up from the ground and thrown into a nearby pond
However, the owners of South Park Green, Poultec Training, came to the group's rescue, and found them a last-minute marquee. A team of ten staff worked to clear the area, so the 200 guests could attend in safety.

The marquee suffered £12,500 worth of damage from the storm, and was written off.
The group said they were delighted the event could go ahead, and are thrilled to announce the final total.
They thanked Edward Bales, managing director of Poultec Training, and the team at South Park Green for all their support.
The cheque for £25,300 was presented to Lisa Wiles' father, Mervyn Wiles.
Ms Wiles' family set up the Red Wellies fund in her memory, after she passed away following a 14-month fight with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most deadly form of primary brain tumour.
The charity is dedicated to raising money for research into this killer disease.
The Mattishal fundraising group added that they are 'very passionate about raising awareness of this wonderful charity and the incredible work they do'.
