A barn conversion has been given the go-ahead despite objections from planners.

Tom Eames wanted to turn barns in Mattishall his parents owned since the 1960s into a new home for himself.

The farm house at Walnut Tree Farm in Mill Road was sold in 2001 after his father died but now Mr Eames, who is in his 20s, wants to move back to the village and make a barn on the site his new family home.

Planners complained that there would be too much rebuilding instead of just renovation as part of the barn-conversion scheme and said it was outside the settlement boundary.

But councillors on Breckland Council's development control committee yesterday decided to vote against a proposal to turn down the scheme and instead voted to approve it.
