Since brave baby Tiana Mackay was born with a rare heart condition her family have been sharing her story with thousands of people online while raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Now they are one of five finalists waiting to hear if they will be crowned the winner of a national award from social networking website Facebook.

Following a public vote that finished on Monday last week, the family will find out in January if they are the winners of Facebook For Good: Share Your Story.

It was Tiana's mum Lisa King, 29, who entered the family into the competition, and in her entry she describes the family's story since Tiana was born and how they have raised £2,000 for Great Orm-ond Street Hospital to thank staff for looking after Tiana.

Tiana was born with two heart defects: a very rare one called Alcapa, meaning the coronary artery was in the wrong place; and mitral regurgitation where the heart's mitral valve does not close tightly, stopping the blood from flowing efficiently through the heart and body.

The inspiring youngster has had three major operations with the most recent one being at Great Ormond Street Hospital in September.

The Times reported last month that her family, including her dad Kevin Mackay, 36, and her big brother Dylan, seven, were delighted to have her back home and looked forward to celebrating her first birthday on Tuesday last week.

The winner of the Facebook For Good: Share Your Story competition will receive either e1,000 in cash or e3,000 for a charity of their choice.
