Anglia Water wants to close off the street from close to the library, near Wilkinsons, which will mean the entire length of the High Street and access to Norwich Street from High Street will be blocked off.

The only good news is that the planned closure will not be during normal office working hours.

Norfolk County Council, which has to agree to road closures, said the closure would be from 7pm until 7am, hopefully only over one night, although a closure order had been made to cover two nights from July 30 - in case the extra time was needed.

Anglia Water needs to carry out connection work for a nearby property, the council said.

“We have had to do this in the past and it has been manageable,” a spokesman for the council said. “There should be leaflets and information going out in High Street and Norwich Street in the two weeks before the works,” he added.
