Police are making special arrangements to deal with hundreds of mourners attending the thanksgiving service for former Norfolk MEP Paul Howell.

Up to 800 people are expected at the 11am service on Friday at St Nicholas Parish Church in Church Street.

Police are trying to minimise traffic problems on market day in Dereham and mourners are asked to use the Cherry Tree Car Park.

Its entrance is in Theatre Street, near to the Cherry Tree public house, and there is a pedestrian crossing near the war memorial roundabout at the north end of the Market Place.

Police officers and a traffic warden will be available in the Market Place to give further directions if needed.

After the service at about 11.45am, Church Street will be closed for a short period to allow the funeral procession along Church Street against the one way system and left into the Market Place.
