Swaffham resident and district councillor Ian Sherwood has agreed to become Breckland's 'Norfolk champion' for Norfolk Day.
Mr Sherwood, who represents Swaffham ward, said he would be delighted to fly the flag for the district as part of the celebrations of all things Norfolk, to take place on Friday, July 27.
At a budget and council tax setting meeting today (Thursday, February 22) Mr Sherwood asked the council's deputy leader, Councillor Sam Chapman-Allen, if the authority would get behind Norfolk Day, which is being supported by the EDP, its sister papers and BBC Radio Norfolk.
Mr Chapman-Allen told him: 'I know that you are a champion of all things Norfolk and Breckland is at the heart of all things Norfolk. I look forward to that day and all it entails. Would you consider being our member champion?'
Mr Sherwood said it would be 'a privilege' to be the Norfolk Day champion for Breckland.
