A 38-year-old man who hung himself had recently ended a relationship with the mother of his young son, an inquest heard. Paul Goldsmith, of Becclesgate, Dereham, was discovered by his friend of 25 years, Sgt Simon Little, on May 6 last year.

An inquest, at the Norwich Coroner's Office in Barrack Street on Monday, heard how Mr Goldsmith had ended a relationship with his partner of several years less than three months earlier.
Greater Norfolk coroner William Armstrong said that Mr Goldsmith was not on any medication and had no history of mental health issues.
Speaking at the inquest his brother Darren said: 'He was confused. He never said anything about taking his own life.'
Mr Armstrong recorded a verdict of suicide. He said: 'In these circumstances it is clear beyond doubt that he wanted to end his own life. I offer my sympathies.'
