A young footballer who collapsed after a game at Mattishall suffered from sudden adult death syndrome, an inquest heard yesterday.Elliot Cooper, 17, a sixth-form student of Catton Grove Road, Norwich, died shortly after playing for Thorpe-based team St Andrews Reserves on October 25.

Elliot Cooper, 17, a sixth-form student of Catton Grove Road, Norwich, died shortly after playing for Thorpe-based team St Andrews Reserves on October 25.
The brief hearing in Norwich, which was attended by his parents, was told that Elliot had collapsed
and bystanders had attempted to resuscitate him to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
A post-mortem revealed there had been no obvious factors which had led to a cardiac arrhythmia and it was concluded that he had died of sudden adult death syndrome.
Greater Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong recorded a verdict of accidental death and expressed his sympathy to Mr Cooper's family for the tragic and sudden loss of an energetic, athletic and apparently healthy young man.
