Fast food fans in Dereham are delighted that the long wait for one of their favourite chains has ended today with the opening of the new McDonald’s.
Construction of the restaurant, on the new Dereham Business Hub, began just three months ago and it welcomed its first customers at lunch time.
It is two years since the business was given permission for a drive-through restaurant on the former Cemex site where there is also now a Marston’s pub, The Greenstone. Plans for an Aldi supermarket have also been approved with conditions on the site.
The McDonald’s is providing around 65 new jobs and those employed will have access to leading training schemes, as well as the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Maths and English, apprenticeships in hospitality and even a Foundation Degree.
