Mildenhall Town have jumped three places to sixth in the Ridgeons League Premier Division table after a great 2-1 home win over third-placed Leiston.

Delighted manager Simon Charlton said: “It was a cracking result. We've gone up to sixth, it's a good position for us but there is a long way to go in the season.

“My lads never stopped running and it took until the last five minutes to score the winner. They kept pushing and got what they deserved.

“I am delighted with the result because Leiston have been top four all season and have got some very experienced players.

“It's a work in progress. We've been together about four or five months now after pretty much having to put a whole new team together - so it's very satisfying.”

John Sands scored the first goal after driving down the left to the edge of the box, his shot bouncing under the keeper and into the net.

It was 1-1 until the last five minutes when Mildenhall's David Cooper earned the vital points after dispossessing the Leiston full-back and hitting an excellent shot into the bottom left-hand corner.

Seventh-place Kirkley & Pakefield got a good result against CRC, five places above them, holding them to a 1-1 draw.

An entertaining game saw two goals in the last 10 minutes. K&P's Nathan Stone netted after being set up by Russell Stock, but CRC battled well and with two minutes left Jordan Patrick sent in a looping curling header beyond the reach of the keeper.

Norwich United were dealt a cruel blow when a 95th-minute goal denied them a draw at Felixstowe & Walton United.

Duane Wright had opened the scoring for the hosts, with Jordan Blyth equalising for the Planters before Felixstowe sub netted the

last-gasp winner.

United boss Paul Chick said: “I thought that was very hard on the team - if we'd have been at the top of the league on a good run that shot would have sailed over. Full credit to the boys though, they competed well and deserved at least a draw, and Danny Tacon came in and had a very good game at the back.”

There were no goals scored in the games between Ely City and Walsham-le-Willows and Wroxham versus Stanway Rovers.

Dereham Town were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline when they visited Newmarket, who had been three places below them in the table before the game and are now immediately below the Magpies.

The winding up of King's Lynn FC has meant the reserves side has been withdrawn from the Ridgeons League Premier Division.

Their results for this season have been erased and tables have been adjusted. As a result, there will be a maximum of two teams relegated from the division at the end of the season.

Harwich & Parkeston, who lost 6-0 at Debenham LC, have dropped to the foot of the table as a result of this adjustment.

Needham Market still lead the way at the top of the table after they hit five against Wisbech Town, without reply.

Hadleigh United hosted Histon Reserves and shared the points after the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Haverhill Rovers entertained Woodbridge Town and pocketed the points after securing a 3-1 victory.
