Motorcyclist in Etling Green crash dies

A motorcyclist who was trapped under a lorry following a crash yesterday has died.

It happened at about 12.46pm on the B1110 at Etling Green.

The local man, who was in his 50s, was travelling towards Dereham on a red Yamaha motorbike when, just past the junction with Hill Farm, he crashed with a white Volvo lorry heading in the opposite direction.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service attended and the B1110 was closed for some time between the junction with the old A47 and the junction with the B1145 Swanton Morley road.

When the emergency services arrived they discovered the motorcyclist trapped under the lorry. He was freed by fire crews and a spokesman for the ambulance service said he was then airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by helicopter in a 'very serious, life threatening' condition.

It is thought he suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of the crash.

Today, police said the motorcyclist had died later at the hospital.
