Pupils and staff at a high school in Dereham have been busy packing Christmas hampers which will be donated to the local Foodbank in Wellspring Church.

Each tutor group at Neatherd High School was given an empty box and challenged to fill it with non-perishable Christmas foods and decorate it festively.

The hampers were judged by members of the school council and the best ones were awarded prizes.

Rachel Jacobs, head of lower and upper school, said: 'We have supported the local foodbank at Christmas for the last three years because as a school we wanted to support the local community at Christmas time.'

It is not the only Dereham school showing generosity this year, as year 8 pupils at Northgate High School are also packing food hampers to send to the Salvation Army as part of their tins and toys appeal. The hampers will be distributed to those in need in the community.
