Dereham's Memorial hall is to be given about £3,500 of new lights and a hearing loop for the hard of hearing. The town council has agreed to spend the cash, to be paid out of the Memorial Hall project funds and its maintenance fund.
Dereham's Memorial hall is to be given about £3,500 of new lights and a hearing loop for the hard of hearing.
The town council has agreed to spend the cash, to be paid out of the Memorial Hall project funds and its maintenance fund.
The hearing loop has to be installed so that the hall, in Norwich Street, meets disability discrimination act requirements.
It would be taken out and used again in the event of a refurbishment of the hall, which the council is planning.
There will be eight new lights, including fittings and bulbs, replacing existing ones which have aged and are hard to replace with parts.
Tony Needham, town clerk, said they would not only be brighter, but would also be more energy efficient.
It has also been agreed to restore the 1920's Roll of Honour, a script naming every man from Dereham who took part in the First World War, and have it framed to be displayed in the Memorial Hall in time for its 60th anniversary as a memorial hall next May.
