The future of education in Briston and surrounds looks secure after the opening of a new £2 million teaching block at Astley Primary School.
Delaval Astley, the 23st Baron Hastings, visited the school to open the new block on March 19, along with other guests including Norfolk County Council chairman John Ward and Dr Graham Pickhaver, the school's chair of governors.
Helen Pegg, headteacher, said: 'During 2017 we were very fortunate to have a £2.3 million capital project take place at Astley Primary School resulting in the removal of some very old mobile classrooms and a wonderful new block of five new classrooms which gives some excellent teaching space to our youngest children.
'This also secured the future of education in the village and surrounding area.'
The land the school is on was covenanted to Norfolk County Council in 1912 to be used for educational purposes for the local community by Sir Albert Edward Delaval Astley, the 21st Baron Lord Hastings.
