A Dereham pensioner who discovered a burglar in her home just days after her husband’s death has helped reveal the human cost of a surge in break-ins that has hit the town.

The thief pushed the woman out of his way as he fled with some of her husband’s precious possessions.

His victim has spoken to the Dereham Times in a bid to help police catch the man.
