With a victory and a second place, Adam Smalley left the opening round of the Ginetta Junior Championship with a lead of nine points for the Shipdham-based Elite Motorsport.
'A brilliant start to the season and marvellous to come away leading the championship,' said Smalley, who is also the reigning Winter Ginetta Junior title holder. 'Double pole, a win and a second place will do nicely and a big thanks to all my sponsors and everyone at Elite Motorsport.'
The opening race of two at Brands Hatch was not easy as Smalley had Ruben Del Sarte and Elite team-mate Fin Green to beat, with each taking a turn at the head of the field before, in the final laps, Smalley pulled away.
Race two was another close encounter with Del Sarte leading most laps, but a late surge from Luke Browning enabled the newcomer to take victory while Smalley followed him across the finish line.
With Elite's Louis Foster leading the newcomer class in fourth place plus Greg Johnson, James Hedley and Jonny Wilkinson all scoring points for the Norfolk squad they lead the Teams Championship by 20 points.
Debutant Harry King was unfortunate to be denied a Ginetta GT4 SuperCup victory for the mid-Norfolk squad when he was penalised for a jumped start in the third and final race at the Kent circuit. However, a pair of podium places in the opening two races, plus salvaging seventh place in the final event, leaves him in third place as the series moves on to Donington Park.
Tom Howard started his Britcar season off in fine style with the Dereham racer enjoying a double Class 2 victory in the series opener at Rockingham Speedway, sharing driving duties with Mike Moss, while claiming sixth overall in race one and improving to fourth in the second.
Cranworth racer Adam Hatfield, sharing driving duties with Darron Lewis in the Team Hard Ginetta G55, had a door fly off in qualifying but had no such problems in race one, finishing eighth overall and fourth in Class 3. In race two the pairing again claimed fourth in their category and seventh overall.
Brandon's Peter Challis was out of luck with his Arrowpak Porsche 997 failing to finish either event.
