Dereham Neatherd High School's prom proved to be a huge success.
The students started arriving at 5.15pm in their various modes of transport which ranged from a bike and side car, an old ambulance, a horse and carriage to a camper van, and a vintage minibus . A large number of friends and relatives were there to see the spectacle and all were genuinely excited at this milestone event.
This year the prom was held at the Wensum Valley Hotel which was adorned with red, gold and white balloons and golden sashes over white chair covers made for a fiarytale setting. Fortunately the weather was kind and the sunset over the beautiful grounds was much appreciated by all who attended and made for a stunning backdrop for photographs.
A meal of roast beef, Yorkshire puddings and vegetables was followed by strawberries and cream as decided by the prom committee, ably led by Neatherd High School’s head girl, Joanna Brown. Additionally an amazing 175 cupcake creation was made by Dragon fly bakery especially for the event and superbly sweet centre pieces were on every table made up by Sugacane of Dereham.
All of the girls looked stunning in their prom dresses and the boys were a credit to themselves as they turned out smartly in their suits. James Whitehead chose the option of wearing a kilt and looked very dapper, but was keen to assure everyone he was wearing appropriate underwear! Street Level Entertainment kept everybody on the dancefloor, even a few teachers dared to boogy. Mrs. Cox, head of year 11, said, “ It was such an enjoyable evening, the students were a credit to themselves, their families and the school throughout the evening and I wish them every success for the future- they are a fantastic year group.”
