With a backdrop of large expectant crowds and warm evening sunshine, Year 11 Litcham High School leavers enjoyed a rapturous welcome to their prom as they wowed spectators with their imaginative arrivals and glamorous attire.

The Royal themed evening saw a procession full of originality, variety and glamour.

From the serene and gentle clip clop of a horse drawn carriage to the deafening roar of the Harley Davidson, Hummer and Mustang engines, crowds wondered what could possibly happen next.

They didn't have to wait long. Tractors of immense proportion were followed by a fire engine with sirens blasting, vintage cars, a quad bike, scrambler motorbikes, a tri of mopeds, not forgetting a boat that missed high tide.

However, Postman Pat stole the show when the 'first class male' hand delivered Shannon Snelling to the prom.

On the red carpet, Mr Dryden, their year 11 tutor - who is retiring at the end of the term - presented a single rose to all the ladies.

Whilst sipping cocktails on the lawn, the students' evening was captured by Event Photography, who later presented each Year 11 with a keepsake group photograph. Individual and group photographs were snapped throughout the evening.

A mouth watering buffet was enjoyed in the school hall, which was transformed into a majestic ballroom for the evening.

Crisp white tablecloths and chair covers, adorned with luxurious purple and silver voile bows, set the scene.

Copious amounts of balloons filled the hall, including a magnificent arc to frame Jammin' Entertainments – the man behind the music.

During the evening, students were invited to vote for their choice of prom Prince and Princess according to tutor group.

Winners were: Lucy Crisp, Curtis Hughes, Jernene Poponne, Liam Reeve, Harry Grigg, Louise Andersson, Aaron Beardsworth and Shannon Snelling.

Hand crafted tiaras for the Princesses and personalised medals for the Princes were presented by Head Teacher, Jeremy Nicholls.

Eileen Alger, pastoral manager and prom co-ordinator, said: 'I was impressed how students worked so hard this year with fundraising initiatives raising over 300. Purses are tight all round, but thanks goes to the generosity of Maxine Reid donating all the balloons, Swaffham Florist and Bella Boo. Simon Nobbs, Litcham High's catering manager, was well supported by his suppliers. Thomas Ridley, Dairy Crest and Forward Wholesale allowed us to keep ticket prices low while providing a totally top notch prom fit for royalty! Every year the community turns out in their hundreds to enjoy the atmosphere of arrivals and are not disappointed with the surprises each prom holds. I would like to thank staff, parents, friends and most of all the students for making this a wonderful and memorable farewell celebration.'
