A man was chased away by a group of people after he assaulted a woman in an alleyway in Dereham.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was in the Barwells Court, off High Street, at around 11.45pm on Saturday, July 4.

A man grabbed her by the arm but when the woman set off a personal attack alarm, the suspect was then chased away by members of the public.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 8 to 5ft 9 tall, of average build, and with short dark grey hair. It is also believed that he was wearing a West Ham United top.
