Fire fighters who put out a blaze which broke out in a field of crops in Yaxham have been praised by the farmer and a nearby home owner. Fourteen acres of barley were destroyed in the blaze which fire fighters managed to stop spreading to a home at the edge of the field.

Fourteen acres of barley were destroyed in the blaze which fire fighters managed to stop spreading to a home at the edge of the field.
Two fire crews were called to the blaze in Station Road, Yaxham, near Dereham, on Saturday at about 3.30pm.
Firefighters from Dereham, were under watch manager Mark Richardson, and a crew from Hingham were under Mel Vincent.
They brought the fire under control before it spread to the house and had to turnover the crops and damp down.
The crews were praised by farmer Myles Foreman and householder Simon Salter. They said they wanted to thank them for their speedy attendance, which managed to control the fire.
It had got to the edge of the property scorching trees, the fence and plants.
