RAILWAY enthusiasts in Dereham are steaming up for an exhibition of mainline memories to commemorate the closure of the line to King's Lynn

40 years ago in September.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust is hoping to mount a photo display of the line over the years and wants to hear from anyone with pictures they would be prepared to lend the group for the event.

They would also like to hear from anyone with memories of the line - especially anyone who worked at the stations or on the trains.

The line, which once ran from Norwich to Lynn, closed on September 7, 1968, between Dereham and Lynn. This followed the closure of the line between Dereham and Wells in 1964 and was followed by the line to Wymondham closing in 1969.

Mid-Norfolk Railway runs a preserved railway between Dereham and Wymondham after setting up a trust in 1995.

To offer your memories or photos call Rosemary Cooper or Graham Moates at Dereham station on 01362 690633 or e-mail info@mnr.org.uk.
