A market town which is trying to beat the credit crunch before it bites is holding an event to discuss how businesses can get help and help each other.

Reepham Town Council has organised Sustainable Reepham, Beating the Credit Crunch Together, which will see local businesses, Broadland District Council, Norfolk Rural Community Council offer information and advice.

It is part of a campaign to keep the town sustainable.

The event is billed with the slogan “Keep Reepham Out of the Red” because, despite the financial crisis, the town has so far been relatively unscathed and in fact saw a new shop open last month.

Ros Calvert, clerk of the town council, they hoped to follow-up the event by another event showcasing what skills and opportunities there are on offer in the town.

The first event, on April 22, will offer different outside agencies providing advice, guidance and training opportunities for start-up businesses and those seeking work, she said.

Norfolk Credit Union, which is working on opening a branch in Reepham, will also be at the event.

It starts at 7.30pm in the town hall as part of the annual town meeting.

For more information contact the clerk on 01603 870813.
