Sex assault on woman in Dereham

Detectives are investigating a serious sex assault on a woman in Dereham.

The woman - in her mid 20s - called police at about 4.40am on Saturday to report the attack.

The woman - in her mid 20s - called police at about 4.40am on Saturday to report the attack.

Details about what happened are still sketchy but officers sealed off the alleyway at Barwells Court - just off the town's Market Place - and also an area in Swanton Road near the railway crossing as part of their inquiries and forensic examinations were carried out.

The suspect is a man in his late 20s and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between about 3am and 5am on Saturday.
