It has been a busy week for Dereham Sixth Form College with students welcoming a range of guest speakers.

Students listened to talks about life after college during a post-18 information evening on April 18, organised by the college’s head of year 13 and careers advisor.

Amongst the speakers was Heather King from the University of East Anglia, who talked to students about why they should go to university, and why they shouldn’t. Representatives from Apprenticeships Norfolk also talked through the range and variety of apprenticeships which are on offer locally and how to find out more about them.

They also learnt about the range of roles available at the NHS and the educations requirements for them.

The following week, the college welcomed a guest speaker from the charity MIND who held workshops on stress, anxiety and depression. These sessions taught students how to recognise the causes, as well as coping strategies that can lead to recovery.
