Two charities are getting a big boost thanks to the efforts of two marathon runners, a football match featuring Norwich City legends and a star-studded charity auction.

Helen Parker, a 37-year-old mother-of-three, and Angela Bower, 34, who also has three children, are gearing up for the challenge of the London Marathon next month.

The two women - along with Claire Coates, Tanya Stedman and Gordon Pitcher - are also organising a Canaries All Stars match at Saham Toney Playing Field on Sunday March 29, 2pm.

It is hoped ex-players such as Mike Milligan, Robert Fleck, Craig Fleming, Dale Gordon, Jerry Goss, Daryl Sutch and Darren Eadie will be turning out.

Boxer and marathon runner Jackson Williams and boxers Jon Thaxton and Herbie Hide are also due to be making appearances on the day.

All the event organisers are from the Dereham and Watton areas and the match is raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Prostate Cancer Charity.

Helen has applied for the marathon for the last four years and had been unsuccessful until she was accepted this year through the ballot system.

She recently lost her step father Malcolm Darlow to prostate cancer so she decided it would be a fitting tribute to run the marathon and raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Angela was accepted for a golden bond place and has always wanted to run the marathon and promised her sister, who is 32 and has cystic fibrosis, she would raise money for the trust.

On the day there will also be a bar, refreshments and an auction with wide range of prizes including a glove signed by Amir Khan and Marco Antonio Barrera, a signed England Shirt (England v Slovakia being played on March 28), Norwich City corporate tickets, a City signed shirt, signed Stephen Fry book, Mike Tyson signed boxing gloves and photo, Top Gear signed book and Ipswich Town signed football.
