A geometric home set in the Norfolk countryside is to appear on the Grand Designs television programme next week.

The modern house has been built for single mother Natasha Cargill at Honingham near Dereham.

The timber framed building, with timber cladding from the nearby woods, is partly sunken into the terrain and has cantilevered balconies overlooking the River Tud valley.

Its hour of TV stardom is being hailed as a bonus for Aylsham-based building company Pro Build which has carried out the project.

Directors Ali and James Pitcher started the business in a spare bedroom nine years ago. It has now grown to employ 11 staff, with a base on the town’s industrial estate, and has a busy order book ranging from renovations of listed buildings to rebuilding Cromer’s storm damaged seafront amusements.

The Honingham scheme had put them in the spotlight with more than a dozen visits by a camera crew to chart progress, she added.

But it was good to be featured carrying out a design with a tight £250,000 budget and strict planning conditions linked to its greenfield site.

Designer Wilf Meynell, whose father sold the land, said the energy efficiency of the biomass-fulled building meant it was actually earning money rather then running up bills.

It will be featured on Grand Designs on Wednesday October 8 on Channel 4 at 9.30pm.
