Venture Farm Cat Rescue, in Mattishall, was awarded one of the largest sums of its kind by charity Support Adoption for Pets.

Due to open next year, the new cattery will feature six large pens providing a large open outdoor space enabling the cats to roam freely.

The charity, which rehomes more than 250 cats a year, will also build seven new isolation pens for helping settle in new cats brought to the rescue.

Hazel Hatton, treasurer and trustee at Venture Farm Cat Rescue, said: “We are so grateful for the exceptionally generous grant given to the charity by Support Adoption For Pets.

“Renovating the cattery is something we have wanted to do for a long time as the building was in such a desperate state, and so we are delighted that the grant will make this possible.”

Amy Angus, Support Adoption For Pets Charity manager, said: “Venture Farm Cat Rescue is the extremely worthy recipient of our £100,000 grant - one of the largest donations we have ever given.

“We could see from the grant application that the cattery would be such a fantastic addition to the farm, helping benefit the lives of so many cats that come into the charity’s care throughout the year, and so we were exceptionally pleased to make their dreams of transforming the cattery come true.”
