The show played for three nights this week for parents and friends of the school and was one of only a few UK productions of the musical this year because of the present West End Show.
More than 100 children were involved in some way with the music, drama, dance or art.
Highlights included teacher of English Sarah Rust as the first narrator and pupil Tom Clarke as a rock and roll Pharaoh. Joseph was played by George Drewry, who clearly enjoyed the role.
Neatherd's director of music Iain Mitchell Finnigan said: “We were so impressed by the quality and strength of the pupils' vocal work in auditions that we shared out the main roles to give a chance for more to enjoy a main part. We want to thank all of the cast, teachers and parents involved in making this such an impressive show.”
The school transformed their canteen area into a multimedia space for the production with new lighting and special effects. The scenery included projected images and a stunning Egyptian art background. Neatherd's headteacher Peter Devonish said that the school was expanding its creative team to build on the success of the musical by advertising for a new drama and dance leader for September.
