A group of 12 keen bakers will be poised over their ovens as they vie to take top honours in a pub-run bake-off contest which backs research into pancreatic cancer.

The Fox at Lyng has held the last in a series of heats, and is now preparing for an April 21 final, to be judged by Great British Menu 2015 winner Richard Bainbridge and popular Norfolk chef Charlie Hodson.

Victoria Hunt, The Fox's owner, said she was thrilled with how the competition, which has already raised £900 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, was going so far.

She said: 'Following the very sad death of my friend in January, I decided I would like to raise money for research into pancreatic cancer as it still has one of the worst survival rates of all the cancers and shows very little sign until it's too late.

'We thank everyone for their support so far, our competitors, our weekly customer judges and to everyone who donated money after the judging in order to sample the bakes.'

The final starts at 2.30pm and there will be an afternoon garden party with live music and a barbecue.
