Dedication to caring for senior citizens has paid off for 20-year-old Rebecca Woods, who has become the first at her college to earn a new qualification.
Miss Woods, a former Dereham Northgate High School student, has been awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care as a lead adult care worker, making her the first at the King's Lynn-based College of West Anglia to do so.
Miss Woods, who works at Dereham's Quebec Hall Christian Residential Care Home, said: 'I love being here. I work with some very nice people – and the residents are all lovely.'
Karen Vertigan, the home's head of care, said: 'Rebecca is the youngest supervisor we have ever appointed.
'Her potential was obvious as soon as she started working here as a schoolgirl at weekends. We were so impressed with Rebecca's natural skills and dedication we offered her the opportunity to begin training for a supervisor role while she was still at sixth form.'
