A poultry apprentice with Poultec in Mattishall said it was 'wonderful' to be awarded Best Poultry Industry Student at an award ceremony in London.
Rui Pedros Gomes Sousa, who works at Gressingham Foods, which has its headquarters in Woodbridge, Suffolk, was presented with the award by The Master of the Worshipful Company of Poulters during The Institute of Meat/ Worshipful Company of Butchers ceremony, sponsored by Poulters' Company,
Mr Sousa won the award after completing his FDQ Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Food Industry Skills, as part of his apprenticeship with Poultec.
He then progressed onto his Level 3 award and has become a Specifications Technologist and impressed the judges with his commitment and enthusiasm to the industry.
He said: 'It was wonderful to have my hard work and achievement of this qualification recognised by The Institute of Meat.
