A village Neighbourhood Plan working group is calling on Mid Norfolk MP George Freeman to 'shine a light' on Breckland Council's planning processes.

Maggie Oechsle has written to the MP to vent the 'absolute frustration' the village of Yaxham, near Dereham, feels with the district council and its recommendation that the community is still designated as Local Service Centre in the emerging Local Plan.

She said: 'Thus far we have been fair, reasonable and factual but apparently to no avail. Despite the 158-page dossier, evidencing the huge amount of work that had gone in to Breckland over the past 12 months, the recommendation still stands.'

LSC designation gives rise to a larger housing allocation in the Local Plan when it is made but she said the wish of the local community is for Yaxham to remain small and rural and not be subsumed into south Dereham.
