Youngsters and their families dressed as the comic character Where's Wally will be heading to one of Norfolk's most spectacular gardens on Sunday, for a fun-packed day featuring a treasure hunt, a butterfly trail, homemade teas and traditional games.
Organised in aid of north Norfolk-based charity the Benjamin Foundation, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, Where's Wally in the Gardens will run at Stody Lodge Gardens, near Holt.
Attracting thousands of visitors every year, the picturesque gardens boast 14 acres of rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias, as well as carpets of spring bulbs.
Visitors to Sunday's event will also have a chance to meet goats and their kids, and see Stody's favourite Shetland pony, Mitch the Titch, who will be donning a Wally outfit.
Those dressed as the bobble-hatted character will be invited to line up for a group photo at 3.30pm, with everyone attending offered a 10pc discount on a special Where's Wally lunch, which runs at midday at the nearby Hunworth Bell pub.
Kate MacNicol, of Stody Estate, said the date of the event had been timed to coincide with the peak flowering period of magnolias, camellias, early-flowering azaleas and bluebells not normally seen by the public.
She added: “We can't wait to share our magnificent gardens with lots of Where's Wally-lovers. Dressing up is not compulsory and all are welcome to attend, but we're hoping for a great turn out of Wallys for an excellent group photo.”
Proceeds from the event will go to the Benjamin Foundation, which supports vulnerable young people and families across Norfolk and Suffolk facing challenges ranging from homelessness, to social deprivation.
Chris Elliot, who is the charity's marketing and fundraising manager, said: “As our charity is all about supporting vulnerable people of all ages, we are really pleased to be fundraising at Stody at this family-friendly event.”
The event runs on Sunday from 1pm-5pm at Stody Lodge Gardens, Melton Constable, NR24 2ER. Entry is £7, or free for children under 12 and those dressed as Wally (hat and top). There is good disabled access to most areas of the garden, with accessible toilet and parking also available. Dogs on leads are welcome.
